Installation products and flashings

For long lasting performance from your roof windows, always use the VELUX installation products. VELUX installation products make it easy to install roof windows quickly and efficiently and protect against the risk of water penetration, mould and condensation for durability. What's more, just like other VELUX products, our installation products meet the same standards of quality so windows can be enjoyed for generations to come.

  • Fit exact window dimensions and connect perfectly to your roofing material. Underfelt collar (type BFX) or/and insulation frame (BDX) are included with the flashing sets.

  • Pleated underfelt collar (type BFX) forms a leakage / water penetration-free connection between roof window and your felt underlay. Comes with adjustable drainage gutter to lead water away from the head of the roof window. With ZZZ 196 windtight kit solution you can upgrade it to a windtight connection.

  • Insulation frame (type BDX), with hard and flexible foams for a tight and secure fit to the roof construction. Contributes to the reduction of heat loss and thermal bridges

  • Vapour barrier collar (type BBX), including assembly tool for a vapour- and airtight solution.

  • Prefabricated jambe-wall and horizontal linings around the window (type LSB/LSC/LSD) for easy completion. For vapour and airtight connection it includes vapour barrier collar (type BBX) too

Installation levels

VELUX roof windows offer two installation heights, standard or flush.

Flush flashings provide a sleek and streamlined finish as the roof window is installed 40mm deeper into the roof structure, meaning that less of the roof window protrudes above the roofline.

For optimum energy efficiency, we recommend installation with insulation frame BDX included in the Energy flashing sets.

For flat tiles of 1.5–4 cm thickness. Compatible with flat ceramic and concrete tiles too.

Replacement flashings

EW

EL

For flat shingle and slate for double coverage in 1.6 cm thickness (2x 0.8 cm).

ELX

Compatible with all types of flashings for standard installation in multiple window combination such as EKT, EKZ, EKW, EKS and EKL.

You need to buy an ELX package for each element of the combination.

Combine VELUX roof windows with solar panels

The specially designed flashing system perfectly connects VELUX roof windows to in-roof solar panels from a variety of manufacturers. Our solution ensures that your roof window will fit perfectly into the solar panel grid with and easy safe and seamless integration. In this way, the roof is used optimally for generating solar energy while offering a comfortable living space with daylight and fresh air under the roof.

Choose the Pro flashing set that includes the BFX underfelt collar for a weather proof installation.

Or if you want added insulation, choose the Energy flashing set that also includes the BDX insulation frame contributing to reduce the heat loss and thermal bridges.

 As a stand-alone product BDX 2000 can be bought for combi or multiple window solutions.

 

Vapour and airtight installation

Use the VELUX  vapour barrier collar BBX for a vapour and airtight installation that prevents  condensation forming in the roof construction. The vapour barrier collar fits perfectly and can easily be mounted  into the groove of the window.

Excellent interior finish

If you want a ready-made solution to complete the interior finish in the room, VELUX linings are easy to install and there is no need for additional painting. Made from durable PVC material, VELUX linings are water-resistant and maintenance-free and fit perfectly with the roof window. The unique design allows space for extra insulation material to prevent thermal bridges.
